Lake Lanier

What a wonderful relaxing week we had after spending Mother's Day driving down Hwy 85 through  rain and a great deal of traffic.  I wanted to know why all these folks were on the road instead of out to dinner with Mom.  The rain slowed down after we arrived and our perfect camp site overlooked the lake. We had a private sandy beach and swam, floated, read books and kayaked. Several turtles were spotted along with ducks, geese, a gazillion boats, and two Kingfisher birds.  I brought some old oil paints and began applying oil to canvas with a knife.   Painting and poetry mingled with campfires, sunsets and sunrises out on the lake  complete with fresh "press-pot" coffee and a donut...what fun!  Actually, just about perfect, tan included.

OCONEE POINT

Within a week from our return from the wilds of New Zealand and the Cook Islands we were off to local camping and a much needed rest from our "vacation."  Though the calendar still said spring, it was very much a summer camping trip.  The sun was hot, the fish were jumping, motorboats and jet skis whizzed by and the air was filled with the scent of honey-suckle and wild roses. . . mmm
